Spello si colora di un’atmosfera romana e si appresta a dare il via all’edizione di Hispellum 2015 che ci sarà dal 20 al 23 agosto.
Battaglie, gladiatori, cortei, taverne e riti saranno al centro dell’evento che coinvolge il borgo umbro dove le tre Gentes – arcaici clan familiari romani – Iulia, Flavia e Falminia vi invitano allo spettacolo del corteo storico, ai mercati, dove ci saranno scene di vita quotidiana, alle battaglie che daranno vita a tecniche di assedio e alla lettura del Rescritto di Costantino, il documento epigrafico – datato 336 d. C. – con il quale il grande imperatore riconosce a Hispellum l’antico ruolo di capitale federale degli Umbri.
Spello, grazie all’evento di Hispellum, rievoca le scene di vita quotidiana della “Splendidissima Colonia Julia”, il cui impianto urbano fu completato tra l’età dei triumviri e quella di Augusto.
La cittadina umbra è molto nota sia per la sua posizione, lungo le pendici del Monte Subasio, sia per la sua antica storia. E’ il luogo di incontro tra natura, cultura e identità. La stessa identità che occorre salvaguardare dalla frenesia della vita quotidiana, e proteggere per far sì che continui a far parlare di sé.
Hispellum è tutto ciò: rievocazione, cultura, arte, spettacolo, gastronomia, battaglie, mercati, un connubio di scene del tempo che ricordano al nostro presente che sono esistiti e che vivono attraverso monumenti, panorami, strade e piazze giunte ai nostri giorni da molto lontano.
