Oggi Firenze risplende.
Nonostante l’autunno sia iniziato, le siepi di rosa sono ancora in fiore e fungono da splendida cornice alla Chiesa di S.Maria Novella.
Dalla stazione ferroviaria mi dirigo all’Ufficio Informazioni Turistiche, dov’è presente un servizio multimediale che illustra ai viaggiatori – attraverso filmati – i percorsi e le particolarità di questa straordinaria città.
Vorrei visitarla a piedi ma noto un mezzo strano…
La giornata mi è particolarmente favorevole: proprio oggi a Palazzo Pitti, al piano terra negli spazi adiacenti la Cappella Palatina si inaugura la mostra di nicchia: “Il Rigore e la Grazia”, visitabile fino al 17 maggio 2016. La Cappella, realizzata in epoca lorenese per volere di Pietro Leopoldo e aperta per lungo tempo al culto, divenne successivamente accessibile solo in rare occasioni. Grazie ai restauri effettuati appositamente in occasione della mostra e alle nuove sale espositive, la Cappella e le sale recuperate sono state inserite da oggi nel circuito di visita del Museo degli Argenti.
La mostra raccoglie i dipinti e altri oggetti appartenenti alla compagnia di San Benedetto Bianco, una delle più importanti confraternite laicali fiorentine, i cui membri erano: principi e cardinali, nobili e scienziati, teologi ed artisti; per molti secoli San Benedetto Bianco è stata una sorta di accademia spirituale, dove bellezza e vita devote s’illuminavano e si fecondavano a vicenda.
Incontro i curatori della mostra e mi sorprendo non poco trovandomi di fronte: Alessandro Grassi, Michel Scipioni e Giovanni Serafini, giovani tenaci, pieni di entusiasmo e appassionati conoscitori d’arte.
Mi guidano nel percorso della piccola mostra, un vero e proprio tesoro ‘segreto’ ritrovato. Un nucleo di opere poco conosciute, dipinte da grandi artisti del Seicento fiorentino e accuratamente riportate al loro splendore iniziale. Si tratta di 21 interventi di restauro (quattordici dipinti, una scultura in cartapesta, un affresco staccato, un manoscritto e tre calici) appartenenti alla Curia Arcivescovile e a chiese fiorentine.
Oltre a tali ritrovamenti, la mostra si arricchisce anche di scoperte di studio, grazie ad un accurato lavoro archivistico i curatori e gli autori dei saggi in catalogo hanno potuto individuare documenti che descrivono gli arredi originari sia della Cappella Palatina di Palazzo Pitti che della sede storica della Compagnia in Santa Maria Novella.
Il lavoro ha contribuito a definire la paternità di dipinti e opere eseguite per San Benedetto Bianco da celebri pittori, quali Carlo Dolci, Matteo Rosselli, Jacopo Vignali, Agostino Melissi e il Volterrano.
Hanno inoltre recuperato un intero fondo archivistico, quello della famiglia Zuti – cui si deve la committenza del celebre ciclo di ottagoni esposto in mostra – che presenta aspetti davvero rilevanti per la storia della città non solo dal punto di vista storico artistico.
Una vera operazione di tutela, grazie anche ai funzionari responsabili per il territorio della Soprintendenza Belle Arti e Paesaggio .
