Oggi siamo a Castelnuovo di Farfa (RI), comune laziale famoso per essere parte dell’Associazione Nazionale Città dell’Olio e dell’itinerario enogastronomico Strada dell’Olio e dei Prodotti Tipici della Sabina.
“Il paesaggio, qui, è la cosa più importante”. Inizia così Domenico, detto Memmo, proprietario – insieme alla compagna Stefania – dell’agriturismo La Campagnola. Non è un caso che la loro struttura a sia entrata a far parte di Slow Tourism: anche qui, infatti, la sostenibilità e il turismo lento la fanno da padroni.
“Anche perché viviamo in campagna! Non potremmo fare altrimenti… La nostra è un’azienda biologica, dove non vengono usati concimi chimici. Abbiamo iniziato da poco ma ce la stiamo mettendo tutta per rispettare i nostri standard, quali l’efficienza energetica, la raccolta differenziata, la preparazione di compostaggio”
Ma ciò che distingue La Campagnola dagli agriturismi circostanti è – a detta di Memmo – la cucina di Stefania:
“La mia compagna cucina da Dio! Consideri che noi usiamo sempre prodotti nostri o, al massimo, di produttori biologici della zona. Insomma, cerchiamo di far star bene le persone ed è per questo che lavoriamo con pochi: la ristorazione è dedicata a un numero massimo di venti ospiti e per quanto riguarda l’alloggio, abbiamo solo due stanze”.
Sì, i clienti di Memmo e Stefania possono passare con loro una splendica vacanza, all’insegna del relax e dell’intimità, del contatto con la natura, gli animali e le tradizioni rurali.
I gestori, come sempre accade, provengono da altre vite, precedenti a quella che l’apertura di un agriturismo o un B&B riescono a regalare:
“Stefania aveva un ristorante a San Pietro mentre io lavoro ancora a Roma, nonostante desideri da sempre vivere in campagna. Anzi, entrambi lo vogliamo. Non ho ancora lasciato il mio lavoro ma per ora ho ottenuto il part-time. Sì, il mio sogno è cambiare definitivamente vita, anche perché sono tanti anni che mi occupo di questo sogno. In fin dei conti, ce l’abbiamo fatta, anche a spostare l’attività della mia compagna. Del resto, fare i pendolari sarebbe faticoso e si perderebbero i vantaggi del vivere in mezzo alla natura”
Cibo, natura, animali… non manca niente, né a La Campagnola né nella Sabina laziale:
“La natura qui è unica. Siamo sopra le Gole del Farfa, che consiglio assolutamente di andare a vedere. I percorsi sono tanti e da fare in bici, a piedi o a cavallo. Noi mettiamo a disposizione dei nostri ospiti delle mountain bike. E poi c’è l’Abbazia di Farfa, luogo spettacolare, con una delle biblioteche più importanti al mondo. Per non citare i tanti borghi medievali. Di fatto, non abbiamo nulla da invidiare a posti più famosi come la Toscana. La Sabina è poco conosciuta ma è tutta da scoprire, anche perché siamo vicini a Roma (50 minuti) ed è ben collegata anche con Fiumicino.”
Alla domanda su quale sia il suo luogo del cuore, Memmo non ha dubbi: “Dove sto adesso! Altrimenti non avrei fatto questa scelta…”
Per quanto riguarda il genere di clientela, è ancora troppo presto per parlarne. Quel che è certo è che:
“Da noi non verrà mai chi è in cerca di un agriturismo di lusso. Noi possiamo garantire l’ottima compagnia e la cucina genuina. Ma, nononostante i molti servizi che offriamo, non abbiamo puntato a mega piscine o a lussi sfrenati. È giusto che tutti abbiano la possibilità di scegliere. Noi sicuramente non siamo in competizione: c’è lavoro per tutti!”
