L’occasione per conoscere questo posto meraviglioso e le eccellenze siciliane è stato il blog tour del progetto PROAGRI (#Sicilying). Premetto che visitare la Sicilia, per me che vivo a Torino ma ho origini isolane, è un po’ come tornare a casa ma ogni volta riesce a stupirmi ed emozionarmi.
Quello che voglio raccontarvi oggi ha il sapore di altri tempi e mi ha molto colpita: immaginate due bambini che durante le vacanze estive vanno a trovare i nonni in campagna e trascorrono le giornate correndo vivaci tra i campi, aiutando a raccogliere le carrube nella campagna di Ispica. Passa il tempo e Giorgio e Gianfilippo diventano ragazzi e continuano ad andare a trovare il nonno, che con la scusa ne approfitta per farsi aiutare per raccogliere le carrube. Un giorno i due ragazzi pensano che sarebbe bello realizzare qualcosa su questo terreno e iniziano a fantasticare. Mentre frequentano l’università, esce un bando per incoraggiare i giovani imprenditori a investire in zone da riqualificare. Giorgio e Gianfilippo allora ci provano e, con il sostegno dei genitori, nel 2011 iniziano a far rivivere quella terra che da anni era stata abbandonata. Nel dicembre 2014 il casale è terminato e viene inaugurato: un corpo centrale con il ristorante e l’accoglienza e, adiacente, una bellissima piscina immersa nel verde.
Il casale è stato realizzato con materiali ecosostenibili e il locale centrale, che viene adibito a ristorante, ha un arredamento di tendenza e ben integrato con l’ambiente circostante. Giorgio ci spiega che ha in previsione di aumentare il numero dei bungalow e di realizzare una zona dove i bambini possono interagire con alcuni animali che ci sono già: delle caprette, alcune pecore e un cavallo.
Una nota particolare la merita il ristorante, dove i piatti, oltre che essere di qualità, sono presentati in modo eccellente. Gianfilippo, che si occupa della cucina, ci spiega che gli ingredienti sono tutti a km 0 o provenienti da aziende agricole di fiducia della zona. Per esempio, il pane viene ancora fatto con la pasta madre e usando le farine locali, che ho scoperto essere di tanti tipi e molto pregiate.
Si cerca sempre di mettere in menu piatti della tradizione. Ricordo una sera in cui, dopo averci fatto assaggiare un piatto molto gustoso, Giorgio ci ha raccontato che era una ricetta di sua nonna. Menù tradizionali rivisitati in chiave moderna ma anche menù light per una giornata in piscina.
È proprio bello vedere come persone che hanno a cuore la loro terra e le tradizioni locali abbiano investito energie e risorse per realizzare un loro sogno: Giorgio e Gianfilippo insieme ai loro genitori, sono la dimostrazione che lavorare con passione e serietà premia sempre.
