We were in Genoa, but we could be in Turin, Rome, Bari, Florence…even New York or Tokyo! We had wanted to go there for so long, but never had the chance before; so while wandering in Northern Italy and visiting the gorgeous capital of Liguria, we thought, “today is the perfect day!”…we had no rush, it was terribly hot outside and we had just enjoyed getting lost among old Genoa’s streets. Could there ever be a better moment? So we did it…we finally visited Eataly!
If you are still wondering what it is, EATALY is the temple of Italian gastronomy, the sanctuary of foodies, the Slow Food concept put into practice. Most important though, the first aim behind Eataly’s project is to increase the number of people that eat with awareness, choosing first quality products and giving particular attention to their origin and production procedures. That is why they chose the expertise of Slow Food to help them control and verify the excellence of the products they sell.
Do you love good food? Do you like cooking? Are you always looking for the best ingredients for your homemade meals? Then this is your little piece of heaven on earth! Pasta, rice, olive oil, sauces, beer, wine, sweets…you can find anything here! We walked through the beautiful open spaces with our eyes open wide. Everything was divinely arranged on shelves where we could find the greatest products our generous country has to offer. We couldn’t help buying a lot of stuff to use for our homemade recipes!
However, it is not just a place for those who love cooking. Eataly is a grocery store, but also a restaurant and a cooking school! You can buy high quality products, sit at a table and taste great food or put on an apron and learn how to make great recipes! A true foodie experience!
